Default Chrysler 8.25 shave

Ok, so I know that it's common to shave the lip off of an 8.25 axle for like .5" extra clearance. Is there any good reason that I cant go a bit further like in a 14 bolt shave? (Like in the link) http://www.pirate4x4.com/forum/jeep-...clearance.html My end goal is running 35s locked. Axle will be trussed.

The 14bt shave is doable because the center section is massive. I would not recommend doing the same to the 8.25"

Ah yeah, makes sense. But wouldn't a truss make up for the lost strength? Or is it moreso the issue of gear deflection in the housing?

There really isnt' much to shave on the 8.25. You'd spend a ****load of time and work and money shaving off MAYBE an inch.

This is probably a noob question: does trussing an axle prevent or reduce axle wrap?
