Default chromo shaft axle studs too big?

When i was getting ready to put my shaft studs in, i noticed how it seemed a little too big. I know these are supposed to be pressed in but it just looks like its too tight and theres going to be alot of metal to be moved

not even the slits on the stud itself make contact before it gets extremely tight

Is that as far as they can be pushed in? I always ran Moser axle's in my G-Bodies with Ford 9" rear ends and even when stepping uo to 35 spline axle's the holes were the same size for the 7/16 or the 5/8" studs I ran.

What size studs are those, and what are the ID on axle holes and OD on stud?

If that's as far as you can get them in, don't try to powerhouse it... You should at least make it too the grooved part. Looks like they are new so if they came with the shafts, they probably threw the wrong ones in on accident.

Do you have a Benzomatic or other propane torch? Heat the axle flange to help expand the metal then take a stud place it in and use one of the lugnuts to help pull it into its seat.

No i do not, but i do have a freezer. You think by freezing the studs that it would shrink the Od of studs and have the same turnout?

You can get a torch pretty cheap (25 bucks) at Lowes, Harbor Freight etc. To me it looks like along way to go. Might try both.

Well are these things supposed to be this hard to put in or can they normally just be pulled in with a sleeve and impact to pull it through?

I can usually pull them to the grooved part and pull them in with lug nuts and a socket (rims wont allow me to pull them through with impact).

Yes, freeze the studs to help contract the metal.

You can try that too, just turn the torque down as not to put too much stress on the studs. I suggested the heat n freeze method because its an old racer trick we used to use.

They are the correct size and other posters are correct heat and cold. I had a HD MAC 1/2" impact that I used it never failed.
