chevy d44/d60
Probably posted in the wrong section but I came across a guy selling a d44 front and d60 rear out of a Chevy for 150$. Unknown ratio, wondering if its worth getting I know that some fab work would be required. Wondering if it is worth it. Thanks

And a 14 bolt full float is what you want for the rear if you go one tons |
You want a ford dana 44 or dana 60 front and the rear gm 14 bolt.

Thanks for the info guys. Hopefully I stumble upon a good set of axles so I can start this build.

You don't want a 44 front if you plan on 37s or larger anyway. Ask me how I know. Chevy rear 60s are rare and have a course spline pinion that tends to be a weak link. Found that one out too plus they use an oddball shaft.

yep. as mentioned, skip the 44 and shave a 14 bolt for the back. the dana 44 front on large tires is a wonderful fantasy. strength, width, and not as heavy as a D60. but it's such a small window of use. you're going big because you've got a heavy foot and want large tires. so do it right!
a GOOD set of axles is going to be more like $800-1200 for the front and $150-450 for the rear (depending on location). it ain't cheap by any means so plan accordingly |
