4.0 L 120,000 miles
Manifold : Stock
Downpipe: Stock
Muffler: Flowmaster 40
Tailpipe: Sirrush 2.5" chromed tip (for a classy touch)
It's not noisy inside the cabin, and even makes me a bit mad that it makes all of the grunt on the outside but none on the cabin...

This thread is intended for people to get a Good idea of how different exhaust set-ups sound on our Jeep's. I have noticed if you wear headphones or ear buds the video gives a more indepth sound like you would have if there in person

If you have a video please post it in here

Also include

Manifold : Stock / Header (Which Brand)
Downpipe: Stock/ Custom (Size/Brand)
Catalytic Converter: Stock/ Hi Flow/ Size
Muffler: Stock/ Brand / size
Tailpipe: Size/Dumped/Full Length[/B]

I included a example using my setup in post # 2 below
Geez man...it's the very first post in this thread. No talk of removal of emissions equipment. It is against federal law and forum rules.

Default Jeep Cherokee 4.0

This is my Jeep Cherokee Sport. It is a 93 High Output Cherokee. Straight pipe with only the cat on the exhaust. Sounds amazing. Will be making another clip of it but better in the next month or so. But here it is as of last weekish. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IsD-...ature=youtu.be

Manifold: factory
downpipe: custom 2.5" to remove dent
cat: 2.5" Magnaflow
muffler: 2.5" Flowmaster 50
tailpipe: 2.5" out the back
intake: Spectre cowl intake

Sounds awesome. The Flowmaster 50 is a great choice for some sound and tone while not being over the top. I'd recommend 2.25" tubing for anybody looking to replicate because I think I lost some torque when I went up to 2.5".

video best with headphones:

Your're right not too loud to keep the police at bay and loud enough.

Yeah, i've got a Flowmaster super 50 and Magnaflow cat on my rig but with OEM dia. plumbing. The only Flowmaster short enough to fit my OEM exhaust system.

How do you account for loss of torque with the Flowmaster and 2.5" exhaust plumbing?
I'd think you should of gained more torque.

Slower exhaust velocity. The same amount of exhaust flows through a larger area at a slower speed. The slower speed lessens the scavenging effect so the motor loses some torque to pushing the exhaust out of the cylinder more than it had to previously. That's my very basic understanding of it.

I don't have any hard data to say I lost power but I notice it when ascending long hills on the highway. On the other side, the 2.5" definitely has a deeper tone than 2.25" and it sounds great.

Ahh ok, makes sense.
I could be wrong but seem to remember the 50 has an OEM 2-1/4" input.
If so, could the 2.5" to 2-1/4" reducer be part of it?
Don't know, just throwing that out there.

Seen a Utube video about how the Flowmaster 50's baffling system is supposed to help increase exhaust scavenging but it could be it was tweaked for OEM plumbing.
