Cherokee leafs used as AAL
So i was thinking, if I used the second longest leaf ( the one directly below the leaf with the eyes) would that get me about 2 inches of lift? Or I would I need to use another shorter one as well?

go to the junk yard and get another set of leafs and cut the eye out of the top leaf and add that to your set. If you dont like the ride when you add that one then you can mess with adding other leafs. this is called a bastard pack and you can find lots of info on it if you serch it.

I know that, I was just trying to avoid wrestling with the whole leaf assembly if I don't need it.
Could I be able to cut the lead with a hacksaw?

Edit: apparently rideordie beat me to it but as he said a grinder works good too.
You could cut it with a hacksaw, your arm is going to be tired as hell and it will take a damn good while. I vote chop saw or sawzall.

Well since i live by chicago (snow!!!!!) rust is a bit of an issue here so im assuming that the bolts are going to be frozen in the eyes. And I don't have a battery operated anything, id have to cut the leafs by hand at the junkyard.

well good luck with that one. I would try to find a leaf that is the right length and width and use that one then. You can use any leaf that is the same width and it will add lift. the length just has to be differnt than the rest.
