Where do you guys mount your CBs in your 97+ XJs? I just got one as an early Christmas present.

A common place is on the passenger side of the center console in between the seat and dash

I can't seem to find the thread on here, but there's one where the original poster asks about that Cobra CB where the whole radio is within the handheld mike and the general consensus was that that radio was no good.

Anyway, somewhere in that thread that I cannot find is a picture of a slim CB mounted in the dash under the regular AM/FM/CD player and above the heater controls. You'd have to do some trim cutting and the CB needs to be pretty slim, but that's the cleanest setup I've seen.

If I ever decide that I need a CB, I will go that route and wire the audio output to the existing door speakers, leaving the AM/FM radio on the rear speakers.

Would you really use the CB more than the radio? I'd either wire the CB to the rear speakers or just use the stock speaker.

I always mounted mine on the passenger side trans tunnel, Keeps it out of the way. Plan on doing the same with my new xj.

Here?? Its easy to reach and doesn't get in the way of the passenger seat or legs, and there's no cord swinging in ur face or against plastic

Well here's what I went with. It's definitely the most convenient spot.



Should be able to hide the wires almost completely.

Any experience with the CBs that have all the controls in the mike so you can stash the head unit under a seat or such?

This. There is even a little bolt there already that you can use.
