can some1 tell me if this a LSD or open Dana 44 axle
just got me a complete D44 from a 89 cherokee, popped the diff cover off drained the oil and not sure if this is a factory LSD or open
also need tips on how to install it into my 89 with a D35 currently.. the dana 44 only came with one parking cable will i be able to reuse the D35 parking cable?
also i am not sure what gearing this D44 is, how do i check? there is #s inside on the pinion
here is the #s

I could be wrong but I would say it looks like an open diff set up to me.
Does not look like any locker I have ever seen. And a LSD with no springs of any sort? Once again maybe I could be wrong.
I would just call my local rear end shop and they should be able to decipher the numbers for you.

You are mistaken. It is a factory trac-loc limited slip. It is not a locker. They don't use springs. There are friction discs behind the side gears.

It's a trac loc and unless the clutches are brand new or less than 5k on them it'll work just like an open diff. I'm sure some people on here like them but of all the LSDs I've ran they are the worst and wear out the fastest.
