Can I do Hells revenge in a lightly modded XJ?

I have 31s, 2.5in lift, no swaybars or lockers, high clearence bumpers and factory skidplates...I have done trails like Wheeler Lake, Saran Wrap, and Kelly Flats in colorado. Due to me having to drive the jeep to 6 hours and back I will take the bypasses for the harder obstacles in order to ensure I can make it home.

I would think no lockers will make it harder and out there it seems harder makes the same obstacles dangerous. Have a spotter with a Jeep on top to use a rope to help you up if you find yourself stuck mid way

I've never been but after watching YouTube I'd say no, but if you go be very careful. If you make it to Hells Gate, take the bypass.
Good luck.

Yes, you can. People have done it in Crown Vics...lol

I've run HR several times. Most major obstacles have a bypass. That said, go with others, have recovery gear, and USE YOUR BEST JUDGMENT. If you aren't comfortable doing it, then don't do it. Sometimes that means turning around and going back. There's no shame in it.

FWIW, I lived in Colorado for 17+ years, and made bi-annual trips to Moab. Spring and fall. Have run most of the major trails out there. All of them in lightly modified rigs. Never was locked....didn't seriously build my rig until after I left there, but now I wheel Johnson Valley, the Moab of SoCal.

Just be smart about it, you'll be fine.

EDIT: Hell's Revenge is mostly slick rock...akin to driving on pavement. The majority is not bad. Again, use good judgment and bypass if you're not ready for it.

I bet that crown vic was a used cop car with a limited slip in the back. Still better than an open diff.

I ran it on open diffs many, many times, and I get what you're saying, but my point is the trail is not bad at all, yes there are CRAZY obstacles along the way. But for the most part, it's all slick rock, and no different than streets in San Fran. Hilly, and paved.

You'll be fine.

Hells Revenge can by done by most any OEM 4x4.

That trail is like sandpaper, and most of it is just tall climbs and decents.

I've seen old Willys run all over that trail.

An XJ on 31's even open/open can do a lot in Moab, since there's so much traction.
