Jack tires up, check for play on the tires with your hands at 12 and 6. Any play there generally means you have an issue with worn ball joints. Check for play with you hands at 9 and 3 on the tire. Any play there generally means you have an issue with tie rod ends or steering components. If there's play with your hands all the way around the tire in any position. It generally means you have an issue with you wheel bearing/ hub assembly. But DONT just go off of that. If there's play anywhere have a buddy move the tire around while you look at the joint in question. If its loose or worn out you should be able to see the movement right at that component.

you sure your toe is set right? the toe being off can also cause an outer wear problem.
but, to check for bad ball joints and bearing, jack the front end up and place on stands. then give everything a good shakedown.
