Default C8.25 Swap

Will a C8.25 bolt right up to an 89 with a D35? Will I need a different yoke or driveshaft or anything?

Are the spring perches the same width or do they vary?

I thought the driveshafts might not be the same length, due to different pinion lengths? The 8.25 has a longer pinion if I recall correctly.

They are the same.
I've done this with my 88. It's a direct fit with brakes and yoke to drive shaft.
Just the axle tubes are a little wider so new U bolts will be needed. Just measure the width of the tube to find the right ones.

It does but its not a big enough difference to matter.

yes it is longer but not by that much. If your running a lift then you benefit from the extra length.

Forgot to mention you need the U bolt plates that come with the 8.25. The D35 ones will not work. I've been through that.

Me too, had to slot the holes on my D35 plates. It worked but was a PITA. Save yourself the trouble and grab a set of 8.25 plates from the junkyard. If you can't find a Cherokee with an 8.25 it looks like the plates from a 2wd Dakota are the same.
