Anyone here running the ac bypass pulley and if so any problems with it I'm trying to take all the unnecessary work off the belt driven components to hopefully free a few more horses

I can't answer your question but I can tell you that removing the AC system isn't going to free much (if any) more horsepower. I realize there will be people here who will argue against my statement until the death of them but even if you do gain any horsepower from it it will be negligible at best.

Now, if you're getting rid of it to make more room in your engine bay then I can make more sense out of that. However, if that's the case you might want to just remove the AC system altogether and get a shorter serpentine belt.

My brother-in-law ran one for about a year till he relocated his alternator up to where the action was. He had no problems with it.

Ya not looking to free a million hp outta it just I dont use the ac it's a race only jeep so the motor is worked hard already just thinking if it's only gotta spin a free pulley little less strain then the whole ac compressor even though I know it's not always engaged

IMHO not worth the effort.

I did it on my 97 cause the whole system went bad. Its not hard to do. But there isn't really much benefit to it (except extra room). If you want to get rid of yours go for it. I haven't had any problems with the free pully.
