Bumpstop Q's
ok everyone so im going to be installing an 6.5" LA kit on my jeep come late spring and will be running 33" tires with no fender trimming. wondering what size bumpstops will be needed? i wanna have good flex just not overflex with the bigger spring and LA flex. any input would be great or whoever is running this set up lemme know what size bumpstop you run with it. thanks.

why no fender trimming? your going to have to severely limit your uptravel.
in this case there no set amount to bumpstop, when you get the kit and install it along with your tires, flex it to the point of your maximum desired uptravel and measure how much space is inbetween the bumpstop and the bumpstop plate. then you will know how tall of bumptops you need.

OP - you can totally do 33" with no trimming. I say that b/c I'm at 4.5" with 32's and still have stock fenders/flares (just some trimming to the front bumper caps.) You won't "severely" limit your up-travel as ^ describes. The real advantage to crawling is down travel anyways. Once you get good bumps, the axle will pivot off them and encourage down travel. This is what I did for mine. I've got an extended progressive bump and I welded these "kicks" onto the leaf pack retainer plates; its 2.25" off the plate and tilted up slightly to meet the bump at a better angle. The distance left for up travel is deceiving, the progressive bump collapses a good 1/2" before it stops. For the front, I've got extended stops in place of the stock ones and have added a 1.25" "puck" to the axle side. The extra puck keeps the tire from rubbing once the other side drops and tilts the tire.

im at 6.5" with minimal fender work. flares are still in stock location. for the back i just spaced the bumptop down a few inches. for the front i made adjustable bumpstops for the axle side and have extended poly upper bumps with an aluminum spacer. i have about 5" uptravel at all corners.

its hard to keep the tires out of the fenders on short ams when you get up there in lift heights. i know at 6.5 with adjustable short arms, i had to do some trimming because the arc when the suspension would travel was so severe. plus, the fenders are square openings. if you get a big enough tire, you will HAVE to trim or lift it to the moon.
