Default bumper security ??

im getting a new winch bumper on my cherokee. it is very easy to install and i thought that was great! then i started thinking when i put my winch it will be really easy to take the whole bumper with the winch and get jacked!! im getting a couple of locks for the winch to the plate..... just the bumper!! any suggestions how to lock the bumper to the unibody?? should i just weld it? thanks!!!

A few stitch welds here and there and it's no issue.

You would have to live in the worst possible place like Detroit to worry about that. Stop being paranoid, if its a proper bumper then there are 5-6 bolts on each side. If if a person can pull a bumper with no one noticing, hell they kinda deserve it lmao

The people in Detroit wouldn't know what to do with a winch or a winch bumper...

Only good thing a lock is for is to keep a honest man honest.

I'd be more worried about the whole jeep being stolen at that point...

You could drill holes on both sides of unibody a bumper mounts and put a couple $200 pad locks on it. You could get it Lo-jacked it maybe even ask the police to check on it every hour or so get a bumper sticker of a gun or " I kill " message on it. That should keep the thieves at bay
Can't help the mental picture of a crack head ridding a 10 speed bicycle and a bumper on his shoulder LMAO
Never heard of a stolen bumper, at least not yet

If somebody wants the bumper bad enough it would be quicker to just take the whole Jeep. I personally wouldn't worry about someone stealing the bumper. If its a decent bumper, its going to have 6+ bolts per side and it's going to be heavy and bulky, not the easiest thing to take off and walk away with.

Something tells me that if someone is willing and able to take a whole bumper off of you, they'll be able to obtain bolt cutters for locks too.

Most aftermarket TJ bumpers are only held on by 4-6 bolts that are more easily accessible then the bolts on an xj. Most decent xj bumpers are held on my 12 bolts or more.
