Bumper bracket help/introduction
Alright so im new here, hi everyone! Recently got into an accident with my 97 that destroyed the header panel and front bumper/bumper mount. Now i have no intention of ever running a winch on this jeep but may get a bumper down the road with some tow points built in. So after i got the bumper mount on the unibody straightened out the best i could i decided to break out the old harbor frieght welder and cut up some angle iron and flat stock i had laying around. Yes i know its all pretty ugly and crude but let me know what you guys think! Will this be good enough to add some strength to the factory bumper/ bumper mounts in the event of amy future low speed accidents and will it be good enough to run tow hooks off of in the future? Thanks guys! First 2 pics are what i "mad max'd" together to mount the new bumper on and the last pic is what the mount looked like right after i pulled the bumper off after the accident

Looks ok , You know they do make some plates that bolt to the side of the frame and to the bumper mounts to help reinforce the bumper mounting .

Yes i looked into the brackets that bolt onto the outside of the "uniframe" and sway bar mount bolts. I may try to either make something similar or buy the plates if/when i upgrade the bumper. For now just want to get it back on the road with the stock bumper

Make it out of steel, iron is pretty weak. save the angle iron for bed frames. you want to make truck stuff from steel angle. Steel can be considerably stronger than iron.

Sorry for the confusion. It was all made out of mild steel, either 1/8 or 3/16 thick i had it laying around for awhile and honestly forget what size it is lol. I (perhaps incorrectly) use the term "angle iron" to describe the steel stock i used bent at a 90 degree angle.

Thank you! The welds are not pretty lol but hey ive only welded a handful of times before in my life so i wasnt expecting them to come out beautiful. It seems pretty strong tho. I jacked the whole front driver side off the ground off the new mounts i made before putting the new factory bumper back on so i think it will do the job!
