I have a 1998 Jeep Cherokee, I was at our Local pick and pull and found a brush guard laying by the shed that the guy at first told me was broken. I pressured him into a price (thinking whatever he considered broke was probably the missing bolt that I noticed was missing). I continued to explain to him that whatever he considered broken I could have fixed. He finally gave me a price of $15.00 so I ran with it pretty quick.
I had to do a little straightening on one of the lower points.
But with it just laying around and the measurements working out to where it would fit, just had to hopefully figure out some sort of mounting process. And that's where I was really hoping someone might be of any assistance.
My brother cut me two mounts that would bolt it to the front skid plate but is that really strong enough with its three small bolts across the front and two on either side to hold it up. It has two mounts that lines up perfectly with the front factory bumper (in the picture the bar is turned upside down), I thought about drilling through the bumper and mounting it through with a plate behind the bumper to stiffen it up a little.
Just another pic to help with any ideas
Also if anyone knows a brand by chance I will gladly order the mounts from them directly. But I have no clue

It's going to fail quick. There's no real protective quality to this. Especially the way it sounds like you want to mount it.. I wouldn't rely on the OEM, non reinforced or tied in bumper, skid plate and chassi as a solid mount point for anything. XJ's have unibodys and no solid frame to tie into.
Edit- also you had to straighten out some of the arm already: it's been bent and weakened more than it already is!
If you do mount this, don't use it for anything other than show!

**this is a daily driver, I'm not looking for a deer catcher or a ****** point, I am looking to install this just for what it is aesthetic looks only. Maybe down the road it may end up with frame stiffeners and tie ins front and rear bumpers and such. But for now it's just a road toy, I have been considering a budget lift of maybe 3 inches and a set of 31's
Call it a poser if you want, but it's all about what's inexpensive and gives the heap a little better look for now. Plus my only real reason for this over rated bumper extension is to add a few more lights to the front end.
But thanks for your insight

I hear the full sized Chevy guards look a ton better.
I'd just weld it to the stock bumper. Should be plenty strong enough.

NOT AT ALL
NO Bro!!!! Not at all I was just covering grounds, some people like to bash a little from what I have seen, and I just want to make it clear that I wasn't going for a trail rig status.
Sorry if it appeared that way>
