Brown Dog Install Help!
Since I had a broken bolt on my passenger side, I'm installing brown dog motor mounts with the super brackets. Started my driver side today, got the old mounts and bracket out, lined up the brown dog bracket, and here's where I ran into trouble.
It seems to me that the bolt holes in the TOP LEFT corner (2) are too short for the brown dog bolts. I've cleaned them out, chased them, but they don't seem to go in all the way, leaving about a quarter inch of bolt hanging out.
It's too dark for a pic right now but here's a pic from the BD website with the two holes i'm having trouble with circled.
these bolts simply wont go in all the way and i'm at a loss as to what to do. I do not want to leave my motor on the jack that long while i figure it out!! I've stuck an awl in the hole and it seems to bottom out, as in no blockage, just ends. these two holes were previously unused so there's no 'reference' bolt. i've also measured the BD bolts that are stated to go into the hole and they are correct so that rules out a bolt mix-up. I'm lost here

Why not just use shorter bolts?
It's a blind hole. It has a bottom. Go grab a couple of shorter bolts, as well as some washers. You can either shim up, or go down in size.

i was really just curious why the bolts would be too long for the hole on something designed specifically for my engine (it made me think I had messed something up so i was treading cautiously). no disrespect to brown dog, i owe the life of my engine to them, i'll be recommending them to every jeep guy i meet. however, i did try to email them and the emails were returned 4 times for being undeliverable for some reason.

Sorry didn't pay attention to whose thread it was but it applies same on other side . I have been fixing a neighbors car in my driveway and am a bit taxed after doing it all day at work and then at home again . Glad to hear you got it figured out .

bracket designed to fit, bolts are not. Not the end of the world, would you have preferred numbered bolts to the holes and two pre-cut to fit? Too bad, didn't come that way.
