Brake lines

If I go with the 3.5" re lift will I need new brake lines?

HuntinXJ Sep 20, 2014 03:13 PM

Extensions typically are included with kit.

Front lines can be relocated. Rear soft-line should be replaced with a longer one.
If the e-brake cable routes over top of the muffler, than it will also need addressed.

I got the RE 3.5 kit.I used 95 wrangler soft lines in the front. The rear is just one line that runs from the body to the rear axle. Mine came with this line. In your case you could use the rear line from a 95-00 dodge Dakota. Talk to Frank from serious offload he will set you up.

Check out Tom95YJ's build. 3.5" RE on 35" tires to give you a good idea on brake lines and bumpstopping.

On my XJ I relocated the front handline connection and use 92 YJ hoses, at around 6" of lift I can drop the axle enough to remove the springs without removing the calipers.

It's an older picture (since moved to Long arms and no more spacers). But my brakes are all still the same.

No those are handline, you need the soft lines. Look for. Brake Line, not brake line extensions.
