So I decided to tackle my brake line extension bracket "Z" thing before I do my lift next week. Well, after searching many threads, I finally got the e-clip off of the frame bracket. Now it should be the easy part of just pulling the brake line out of the frame bracket, installing the "Z" bracket and I'm done...but I can't get the brake line out of the frame bracket. The slot that allows you to slide it out seems to be too narrow for the line to slide through and I am stumped! Any advice on this would be appreciated.

check if there is a clip holding the lines together at the bracket. you might need pliers or a screwdriver to pop it off

If your talking about the e-clip thing then yes i pryed that off already and still can't slide the line out...

In the picture above the e-clip is still there but I got that off so that's not the problem anymore

Yea, that's what I thought too but it actually feels pretty solid when messing with it

IIRC, you pull it out (not slide it through the slot) after you unscrew the brake line.

Which brings up the next point. Squirt some penetrating oil on the hard line and see if you can get its nut off without twisting the hard line.

Ahh! Never thought of that! So I unscrew the hard line nut and not the rubber line nut right? Would that mean I have to separate the lines completely and then bleed the brakes? because I thought this was to be done without having to bleed the brakes...

Now I see what you are doing. You are relocating the bracket rather than extending the line.

You want to pull it out until the hardline can fit through the slot. Then you intend to bend the line.

Your hard lines look to be in bad shape and attempting to disconnect the flare fitting is likely to be problematic so avoid it if possible.

How much are you lifting your jeep?

Sreeb, I am lifting my Jeep 3 inches and now I'm just thinking I'll get the YJ longer line...

Use the penetrating oil/heat and make sure you can turn the nuts on the hardlines and that the nuts aren't frozen to the hard lines. Or commit to making new lines as required.
