BPE front body side mounts,photo help please
 

hi all,

I can find plenty of pics on the bottom side of the front shock where they mount to the axle,but not when BPE's are used on the front body side. I dont understand how these are mounted, nor can i find pictures from the engine bay and how these are bolted on.

is something drilled in, can it be?

I’m a bit confused by your question, but will try to help. For the front shocks, bar pin eliminators are installed on the axle end. BPEs will mount in the holes used to attach the original bar pin. They take the place of, or “eliminate” the bar pin. There is no change to the way the shock mounts at the top.

Yes, this question is a little confusing, but i believe you want to know how to mount it, so best bet is find out the bolt size for the stock bolts and get new ones. ONLY GET NEW ONES IF YOU NEED THEM. There is no point in buying new ones if the old ones are fine. Then you can just bolt the BPEs in.

are you talking about the upper mount? thats a stem mount, there is no barpin.

could a BPE be used to bypass the stem mount on the front upper body mount?

if those that are using BPE on the upper side have a stem portion ide like to see gromets mounting these, better yet ide like to see and know if the BPE can be mounted to the upper body in the front ( instead of the stem).

Is there a benefit to use these vs. the OEM fender mount?

I can't really speak to that one way or the other. But if you're looking to swap from a stud to a loop style top mount, that is the part you want.

so is a new hole drilled for these?

I know the piston rod on my shocks are 1/2". The JKS mounting stud is 7/8". So I'd have to open the existing piston rod hole. Some shocks only have a 3/8" piston rod.

no holes need to be drilled. i've never seen an XJ/MJ with a 3/8" or 1/2" hole for the shock.

Piston rod is what the piston and valves connect to inside the shock. Some call it a "shaft".

The hole in the fender would have to be large enough for the 7/8" adapter stud to go through:
" Massive 7/8 in. mounting stud is 233 percent larger than 3/8 in. stem it replaces for ultimate strength and security."

Not sure what the diameter of the shock bushing part is that goes through the fender.

yeah the bushing takes up the rest of the space. no drilling is needed.
