I'm sure this has been asked over and over on every Jeep forum buuuuut what's a decent bored throttle body that wont break the bank? I've been reading a lot of good things about the 62mm tb Jeepers and Creepers sells, anyone have any expecience with it? Are they good, bad, so so, or a complete waste of time and money?

I run the 62mm Jeepersandcreepers TB on my 4.6L stroker. very happy with it. James is a great guy. The best way to order is by phone. Heres a pic of mine

Cruiser: There's a note on their site that makes it seem like their throttle bodies are used ones that are bored, can you confirm if that's the case or not? I only ask because I've read of cracks forming after boring used Jeep throttle bodies.

Evan: Did you notice a big difference between the 62mm over stock? Did it affect your mpg at all?

I've heard of that but its rare. Honestly with how cheap TBs are at the junkyard, just buy another stock one if your bored one cracks.

I went from 52mm on 3 Renix Jeeps to 60mm. No issues. He takes used throttle bodies, machines them and installs bigger butterflies. I personally have never heard of cracking tBs.

That's true, I could just keep my stock TB instead of returning it to get back the core charge.

I've only seen it mentioned a few times throughout other forums but the fact that I saw it mentioned at all made me paranoid enough to ask lol. Do you happen to know how much extra it is to get one powder coated?

The reason i went with Jeepersandcreepers TB is because i HAD a stock TB that had been bored out to 62mm but it CRACKED. Again im very happy with mine man.

Right, exactly what I don't want to deal with. I'm thinking the J&C may be a safer option.

62mm is a bit much, 60mm is where I'd personally draw the line.

Why is that exactly? I don't know much on the technical side of this kind of stuff so I'm just curious.

You need to research strokers. Understand throwing a bigger bore tb on there is changing your air to fuel ratio. Im running a 62mm TB with 24# injectors but i have the bigger cam, ported head, 4.2 crank, 4.2 rods, bored block etc... you get a 62mm on a stock 4.0 motor you dont have the additional fuel to make up for increased airflow.

You guys are really overthinking this IMHO. Get a bored TB that matches your intake manifold and be happy. Ask Jeff at www.strokedjeep.com how many he's seen cracked.

i just picked up a 60mm TB from thexjfiles here on the forum. he bores thme below the butterfly so that is 60mm all the way thru. its only 55 bucks before a 25$ core charge. i feel like 62mm is a bit much for my current needs -too much air to not enough fuel is a great recipe for burnt valves
