Does anyone have any recommendations for bolt-on (or mostly bolt-on) skid plates (front, transfer case, fuel tank) for a 2000 XJ with a 242 TC? I have looked at Stinky Fab, Rustys, and Skid Row. I'd prefer to not have to drill to many new holes if there are some good bolt-on options.
Spend some time in the junkyard. The front skid is hard to find, but the transfer case skid and fuel tank skid can be swapped from a ZJ which are much more common. I'd recommend the ZJ transfer case skid for anyone with a 242, the stock 231 skid plate will not clear the 242. You'll need to drill three holes to make it fit - two in the crossmember, one in the frame rail. I used nutserts to install it, just like was done at the factory.
The ZJ gas tank skid swap is super common. Do a search, no drilling into the Jeep, just the skid.
I've never paid more than $15 for a junkyard skid plate.
