Default bilstein 5100s - bar pin eliminator?

I put new shocks on my jeep this weekend. no real issues to speak of. I bought bar pin eliminators, but did not use them.

PRO TIP: it appears that the bushing is molded around the bar pins.

I had pressed the pin 3/4 of the way through and noticed that it DID NOT give up easily and still appeared to have a death grip on the bushing. I stopped attempting pin removal and simply installed them as-is. anyone else have this issue? who has removed the pin entirely? I was afraid of destroying the bushing so I chickened out.

on another note; the xj rides a lot better now. the rockauto $18 close out shocks that I put on it had 3 years/70k miles on them. not to mention they were 100% fully extended thanks to the AAL.

Bar pin is fixed to the bushing. I pressed the bar pin bushing out and put in poly bushings and used the bar pin eliminators. I agree it's annoying. I couldn't find a 5100 in the right length and valving that also had eyes at both ends. Oh well.

it would've been nice to know beforehand. I read up on the shocks and all I could find is how great they are. oh well. next time I change shocks I'll ***** about fishing a wrench in the triangle just a little bit more.

I made a thread a while back;

https://www.cherokeeforum.com/f67/ba...r-pins-219834/

5/8 bushings fit perfectly. Use a c-clamp and a small vice to get the BPE+Bushing out and the new ones pop-in by hand.

Oh well. Broken shock bolts are like a right of passage.

II guess I got lucky, when I ordered my Li
ft from Iron Rock off-road and upgraded to the Bilstein 5100, the bar pins came seperate they were not already installed. I guess I got lucky.
