Default Big bolts to mount stock flares?

Has anyone here used big silver bolts to mount stock flares (by drilling through the flares)? I have not seen any photos and am curious because I am having a hard time finding the retainers for a decent price.

He told you why.
the retainers are getting expensive and he'd like to try something else out.
I'm curious as to how they would look too.

Is it just me or is that guys voice annoying?

Pretty ghetto looking. Yes that's what they'll look like but not how to actually use them to hold the flare in place.

How about just drilling out the broken bolt on the retainer plate and spot welding a new one on?

BTW Elite, you do know that Red Green is Canadian eh?

the BleepinJeep "technique" could be used to hold them on, but as others have stated, it looks like SWASS. (sweaty a$$)

Clean both surfaces with alcohol before application, should last. In other words you wont be able to easily remove in the future, ever.

I think if done tastefully it looks cool. Use flares from the pre-97 Jeeps and don't use huge bolts.

I ended up ditching that idea. I was just wondering if it has been done and what it would look like. I just grinded my old mounts and re-drilled the holes.
