Default Best backspacing with 12.5's and a ford 8.8

So i just picked up a set of 33x12.5s, and I will be swapping to an 8.8 rear end soon, and I know those are a little narrower than my current d35. So I am wondering what backspacing would be best to run on a 15x8'' wheel, keeping in mind I want to tuck the tire as far under the body as possible because I don't run any flares now, and I don't want to be forced too. I think I need a 3.75" BS wheel, but I am trying to confirm before ordering. Thanks a lot for any info anyone can give me!

little info for you.

dana 35 60 1/2
explorer 8.8 59 1/2
ranger 8.8
1993-2009 58 1/2
1990-1992 56 1/2

so 3.75 on an explorer 8.8 would be like a rim on a dana 35 with 4.25 of backspacing. 3.75 on a stock xj sticks out far with no flares, the less back spacing means the farther the rim is going to stick out because less of the rim is going to be on the back side of the mounting point. Do you understand?

And just a heads up the spring perches are 40.20 inches center to center on the dana35 and 38 1/2 on the 8.8

I have 3.75 bs and tuck fine everywhere, but as stated above the 8.8 is narrower so maybe do a 3.75bs on front two and 3.5 - 3.25 bs on the rear ???

You'll want to be around the 4.5-5.5" back spacing if you don't want the tires to stick out. I've got 4" backspaced wheels on a 8.8 and the tires still stick out quite a bit. And yes i have a 12.5 tire and no flares. Also the 8.8 width difference isn't noticeable enough to be ordering different backspaced wheels...

It's been awhile since I did the 8.8 swap on my old YJ (sold). But, I went with 10" when I did the YJ. I think you loose 1" in the axle swap.

Footnote: The 10" did stick out on the YJ, just FYI. I personally liked the look. Found an old pic.

I think I am going to order 4.5'' backspacing, and if they rub the springs/ LCAs I'll space them out more. Thanks guys!
