Question Beginning of my project XJ

I just bought an '87 for cheap. Totally stock other than someone had changed out the puke goat trans to an early version AX15. My plans are to have this rig on 35s for the trails but still have a nice ride as a daily (my better half will surely use it as a daily when the build is complete). I'm going to have the drive train gone through as well as a rebuild on the 4.0. Thinking about boring the motor for some extra juice but I don't want to lose any of the reliability the 4.0 is known for. Any advice in that will be appreciated. Also I am trying to avoid any major cutting off the fenders as the stock flares are a dime a dozen where I live. This will be somewhat of a budget build over the next 7-9 months. My first XJ was already done when I got it and this one I want to build the way I want it. Any and all advice, experiences and the likes are greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance!

Swapping a chrysler 8.25 from another xj or ford explorer 8.8 but takes a little welding.

Plans have changed. Instead of 35s we are going with 33s as our tie size of choice.

I recently lifted 3.5" with 33's. Very pleased so far.
