Axle Swap
So, I have been looking into re-gearing my axles and started with a search at the local jy for a 4 banger with 4:10 gears with no success. Well, I started looking else where for other solutions. I ended up finding a 94 grand with 3:73's. My question is, what is the difference between the d30 in the grand versus the d30 in the xj? are they direct swaps? If so, I can get the entire axle for about 75 bucks and it saves me from having to do all the gear work in the front.
Thanks,
Adam

Difference is you have a high pinion and it's low pinion, possibly has cvs instead of u-joints in the axles and could have a cv yoke as well.

I'm going to 33's after i wear out my 31s. If the ZJ d30 in a lp then I'm not gonna switch it. I'm still at stock gearing of 3:55 and any little bit would help me.

I would hold out for a better setup. when doing something like swapping axles and gears you really only want to do it once.

With just running 33s, I would keep what you have under the Jeep now. Just be smart about it and don't try to smash a dent in the floor from the gas pedal. Heck, I ran 35s on stock axles before I did my swap. Just be easy on the gas, pick the right line, and you will be fine.
