Default Axle swap

So if I found a set of axles in the JY say a set of 44s out of another Cherokee or waggy. They should be a direct swap right ? And I currently have the disco 30 up front I would be fine running a 44 with no issue ? Also what gearing should I look for I have 307s now and I feel like I'm really lacking in power sitting on the 31"s I plan on going to 33"s next

Waggys won't be bolt in. No xj came with a 44 front, although, Rubicons have 44 fronts with factory lockers and those would be bolt in. Just get a non disconnect d30 and run that. It will be fine on 33's

The D44s out of Rubicons aren't true 44s though. They have a 44 housing but d30 shafts. Not much of an upgrade IMO.

Get a non disco 30 and an 8.25 or an 8.8 for the rear.

You will have to cut off the old brackets and weld on new ones for the 8.8. Get an 8.25 from a 97-01 xj, it will be bolt in and 29 spline.

The 8.8 isn't bolt in, but you can use a kit: http://www.seriousoffroadproducts.co...y-Ford-8.8-Kit

If you grab a c8.25, get one out of a 97-99 as they are high pinion vs 00-01 which are low pinion.

Lol no. D30's in 00-01 are LP and are less desirable. 8.25's are the same from 91-mid 96. Then changed to thicker 29 spline shafts in 97-01.
