Axle Shims

Has anyone tried to correct pinoin angles with shims. I have a 94 XJ and was wondering if i can use shims to correct your pinion angle with a stock drive shaft no SYE and a 4.5" RC lift kit with AAL and longer shackles and no transfer case drop. I would like to get a SYE but that's gonna have to wait for a while. Thanks

The search button sucks ***. He'd be better off going to google.

Not really. I have always been successful. Try using he Advanced Search.

he has 5 posts. someone just answer his question.

I would say that at 4.5 inches you may not be able to completely correct your driveline angles with shims. A sye would be best, but until you can do it shims and tc drop may help. Don't consider them a solution. Consider them a bandaid.

I have shims and an SYE. It works pretty nice.

(sorry i was grumpy this morning lol)

I do, but for certain things like u joints and stuff only irrelevant information pops up. I searched before I posted about axle shims and couldn't find anything for my specific lift height. :P

most leaf sprung vehicles lifted with cv driveshafts, have shims to correct pinion angles. Alot of kits with new leaf springs come with shims bolted to them.

rustys. reccomends a 3 degree spacer for a 2-4.5 inch lift and a 6 degree for anything over 4.5 inches...to 8 inches

I finished installing 6 deg shims on the rear and adjustable upper control arms on the front and now my angles look much better. I also installed a drop pitman arm and it drives great. I am getting the alingment checked tomorrow. Thanks for the help.
