Default axel regearing questions

I just recently got a new xj and im planning on adding 33's or 35's to the rig and regearing the axles to compensate for the tires. I didnt bother to do this on my old rig because the tires were still fairly small. Im wondering what ratio would be best to go to with on both tire sizes, also will i just need to buy the ring and pinion and the installation kit or do i need to buy more?

35s on that D35 might be pushing it.

29 spline 8.25 at the least. and in that case (and with the high pinion dana30 front) you are limited to 4.88s which is a good gear ratio for an xj on 33s or 35s.

as for gear setup. have you ever done it? do a little research so you know what you are getting into before you tackle this. and I would definately reccomend setup bearings in addition to the gearsets and master install kits.

^x2 Most shops like certain gear manufactures, plus they make some off of selling you the gears.
