i think you just explained via youre writeup why i can jump the relay with the truck not running and relay will operate and power the fan but when its running it wont. guessing it loses the ground via the pcm when running.thoughts? in addition on a 98 what makes the fan run? a/c hi pressure and coolant temp? because on mine the elec fan never seems to come on when i think it should be running. right now i have it powered all the time via a hot in the pdc thats only hot with key on. i was thinking about tapping into the switched side of the compressor relay so its on whenever the compressor is running, thoughts? oh and sorry for the hijack

Like the write up the fan comes on when it receives a ground signal from the ECU... (AC or temp sensor) so it should do that exact thing when you connect it to ground. I've seen other write ups where people just straight wire it from some relay in the PDC under the hood... Im sure you could find that with google
