I have a 98' Cherokee Sport, 4.0L, stock I am looking for a transmission modification for the 1-2 gear option. I am looking for something that I can select 1st and stay in 1st. I don't want to go all the way with the manual shift, auto tranny kits as I like Drive for the usual getting around.

These kits seem to be more of manual shift kits for the auto tranny. However, I am a little confused so I sent the guy an email and am waiting for a reply.

This seems to be what I'm looking for... I think. There really isn't a whole lot of description provided though.


Are there any other good kits or mods anybody is aware of? Is there any other way of doing this beside kits and such?

Montana Auto And Fabrication. WWWmontanafab.com Plug and play aw4 override. $166 bucks, I have one in my 98 and it will not set off your cel.

I think I might go the MontanaFab route. The guy at RAdesignsproducts.com was real great about getting back to me. I sent the email Sat. night and got a response Sun. I wasn't expecting anything until Mon. Have to give him props for that.


Anyway, RA Designs Products recommended his "Rail" kit but its full manual. It sounds like I would have to do a little electrical finagling with the TCM to keep the drive option. Furthermore, he was real honest (another thing I give props for) about his kit throwing a code on the ECM.


Although RA Desings Products kit is cheaper, its not as close to what I'm looking for as Montana Fab. That and I don't want ECM constantly throwing a code and the engine light always on.
