auto locker gear oil

what gear oil should i run now that there's auto lockers in? does it make a difference?

I run 85w140 synthetic. I used to run 80w90 but found that the heavier oil somewhat hides the ratcheting sound on both of my Aussie lockers. So far as brand I run whatever is the cheapest. I go through a good amount of mud so I change my gear oil every 3 or 4 months.

The instructions that came with my Lokka say to use whatever the factory recommends.

so what does the factory recommend?
should i go with a lil thicker than factory?

should friction modifier additive be added if i have lockers? or is it just for limited slip? and if so how much?

The friction modifier is for clutch-based limited slips. Almost all synthetic gear oils have this included, actually.

Run the 75w140 synthetic, or 80w140, or whatever. This is called for in the manual for "off road use or towing"

I run amsoil 75w140 in the rear XJ D44 with an aussie locker, and never had a problem.
