I swear I have seen on here somewhere that somebody had mounted and wired up a Monte Carlo auto dim mirror with map lights?

I snagged one from a 2000 Monte Carlo SS at the yard last weekend, has a seven wire harness (i believe). Anyone know how to wire this up? Shouldn't be too tough, just need some guidance...

check the back of the mirror, it might have a model number on it. Have done the mod with a durango auto dim. it only had 4 wires so will not help, but was able to google the model on the back and find the wiring info. it was one for power, one for ground, one for reverse light (so won't dim when reverse lights come on) and one to send the dim signal to the dimming side view mirrors. only need to do the power and ground for it to work, the others were not needed.

Man, theres a whole slew of numbers on the back of this thing. Its a Donnelly mirror for sure. I think the model number is 012017. Other numbers are 700038, 5066112, 5073012, 5572354, and 5530240.

Donnelly mirrors use hundreds of different harnesses. There for, wire color means absolutely nothing. Here is what I found...

This particular mirror has a 7 pin connection. Based on the donor vehicle, you may have 4 or 5 or 7 wires (feature specific). On the back of the harness connector, you will see VERY SMALL numbers 1 thru 7 corresponding to the pin port above it. See below...

Pin 1 - 12V when ignition and acc is on
Pin 2 - Ground
Pin 3 - 12V when reverse lights are on (turns mirror off - not necessary)
Pin 4 - 12V to outside drivers mirror (if also auto dim)
Pin 5 - 12V to outside passenger mirror (if also auto dim)
Pin 6 - Door Switch - grounded when doors are open
Pin 7 - 12V constant (map lights in mirror).

Cool that you found the info, I tapped into the overhead console for 12v and ground on mine.
