Default Aussie locker install issues

So for the past three days I've been working on getting everything out and the locker installed. Today I punched the pin out of the dana 35 carrier and dropped the spider gears. Went to install the locker and the first issue I ran into was that the crosspin won't fit if the side gears have the thrust washers installed, feeler gauge is just over .006 which is the minimum in the instructions without the washers. So can i run the locker without the washers? I know Spartan doesn't need them so what's the difference? Another issue i've been having is that the cam gears (middle pieces) don't fit head on into the carrier, and it's a struggle to get them in with the carrier completely empty. Any advice on this? Maybe try to install the locker from the middle to out? It's for a non c clip so i don't think it's meant for an 8.25, just the carrier is small.

tl:dr: Do i need to use the thrust washers and advice on installing cam gears.

You sure you have the right locker? There are different sized carriers for the D35, one is smaller internally than the other and would make the locker not fit.

I had the same problem with the Lokka I put in mine. I can't remember exactly what did it, but I had to put the ring side in first and jam it up out of the way to get the other half in... it's been a while, so I may have that backwards.
It was definitely a tight fit.

Aussie only makes two different ones, c clip and non. Might just not run the washers, if it's in tolerance I don't see an issue

Soooo i tried to get the locker in again today, shaved the locker a little, still not enough room. Once it was inside it had no room to spin, hit the inside of the carrier. Sooo may thoughts. Are carriers bigger in Dana 30s over 35s? I know that there are no 8.25s that don't use c clips so it can't be that. I'm just confused and want to figure this out to sell it.

There are two different sizes of carriers for the D35. Pre 93 and 94 and up. They even use different sized spider gears.

But I figured the easy difference would be the spacers being cut out to hold the c clips? Bill over at Aussie has been great, gave me the OD of the axle gear to measure to insure that it is the correct locker for my size or not. Either way it'll most likely be for sale soon.
