Default Arb Snorkel Owners... question

I installed my snorkel today but the way the hose is routed just seems cheesey. I realize part of the problem is that it is meant to be used with the liner in place which I do not have any more since I cut my fenders.

Questions...

1. Does the hose always seem pretty tight? The bend up to the fender from the air box seems to stretch the hose too tight to make it sit above the fender.

2. Does the rubber couplers that attach to the flexible hose by screwing onto the hose does that seal enough to not have to worry about water intrusion?

3. How does everyone hold the hose out of the way so its not seen? Wire Ties?

4. Any thing else you had to do to make it work that wasn't in the instructions?

Thanks for the help.

Hey is what you are talking about were the flex hose that comes from fender to the stock air box. I don't have the arb safari snorkel but I've seen were they attach to the stock air box it comes in to the front of the box that 90's up to the stock air box inlet. I would think that the 90 there would restrict air flow and put a strain on the flex hose. I homemade my snorkel, and attached the flex hose to the side of the air box and closed off and sealed the front stock air inlet.

I dont think there is any issues with the elbow that connects the flex hose the the air box. It is where the flex hose has to make a 90 degree turn to follow up the side of the fender and connect to the snorkel. I will take some pictures tomorrow.

Took them tonight see what I am talking about. I wish it fit tighter.

I think I am going to get a silicone coupler and a 90 degree pipe fitting and make the air box fitting a little more tighter. I don't like how I can see all of it from the side. I realize that the iner would hide like 90 percent of this but idk it just bugs me.

Ya like I said I don't have an arb mine was homemade. That sucks that arb would run the flex house in the fender well like that I would think you would have a problem rubbing the flex hose when wheeling and your jeep is flexed out. I would of thouht they would run the snorkel through the whole fender and run the flex hose inside the engine compartment like I did. I knew they used the stock air inlet but didn't know they ran it like that. That sucks on there design.

That's why I made my homemade snorkel. I only have 75.00 dollars in materials. And works and performs just the same as the high dollar arb snorkel. I think the cheapest I ever saw there snorkel was on ebay for like 300.00 or 350.00 dollars. No way I was paying that much when I could build one for a whole lot cheaper.

Damn I am glad I saw this thread. I don't have my fender liners either. Looks like you could rip that thing right off and then have your air inlet even lower than stock.

Could we get back on track? IF you want to build a PVC snorkel search for them they are dime a dozen. If you don't have an ARB snorkel or don't have any useful information this thread is not for you.
