Anyone use wheel locks?
Just wondering if anyone uses wheel locks. When the tires are 1000 bucks, it seems to make sense to somewhat protect them a few extra minutes. Sure anyone can take they off with ease, but like I said you can slow them down.
So which ones do you use, and does anyone know what the degree taper is needed? I know we need 1/2-20 thread.

Or you could use McGard's. I've used these on all my vehicles. If you have more than one vehicle, you can get order them to all take the same pattern "key socket". I also use their lugnuts, they're guaranteed against rusting and do away with the aluminum-capped factory lugs.

I have some Gorilla tuner key wheel lock/lugs. They're a complete set and need a special socket to take them off. I got them from Discount Tire for $20 and they're pretty nice.

This is what I got a while back. They rust. Like they all do eventually. But they are decent.

If someone wants 4 bald *** AT tires on stock wheels that bad then they can have them.
When I worked at Autozone one of my coworkers (highschool kid) was a victim of wheel theft. So he got a set of those key lug nuts we sold. Not saying it was the same people or a result of having locking lug nuts but about 6 months later he came out to see 4 flat tires and the wheels where nicked up pretty badly... from the pictures he took it looks like they tried to unbolt them with channel locks or something... then got mad and beat the wheel up and slashed the tires.
Thieves are the worst. Many will destroy what they can't have.

The kid was a DB... I wouldn't be surprised if he brought it on himself. If I get better wheels and tires I might pick up a set of keyed lugs.
I remember my first car I ever had was an 80's caddy. The hub cap was actually screwed on with a keyed bolt. Kind of an interesting idea.

any will work, you want a steel and not aluminum. aluminum and steel have different heat and cooling cycles which will constantly loosen them up

Most lug nuts have a 60* taper. Unless you have a rare instance of having to use 45* taper nuts which IIRC is used mostly in circle track and other racing applications.
