Any Smittybuilt XRC bumper reviews
I am considering a XRC front bumper. Any pro or cons? Input is much appreciated.

Looks good.

That looks awesome! I'm looking into to getting the xrc bumper pretty soon as well. Did you notice any loss of height on your front end when you put it on? I had a friend who put his on with a 9000lb winch and said lost like 1.5".

Just got mine in the mail, got an amazing deal on it, will be installed this weekend!

I got mine for $360 shipped :p
Serious has the best price you'll find though. I got lucky with mine. It is a stout piece, the mounting looks good, ties into the steering box. Across from the steering box they give you a nut tab (same pattern as steering box) to match passenger side. The finish is textured, seems like a pretty heavy coating. 8 bolts attach the bumper to the brackets, 10 bolts attach the brackets to the jeep. The d ring tabs are welded front and rear The welds look good. |
I have been thinking about getting one of these too. Pretty good price on a winch bumper that comes prepainted and ready to bolt on. Does it seem pretty tough? Will it do alright getting banged around a little?

It's all 3/16, seems very stout, I can't imagine having a problem hitting rocks with it (though it has a great approach angle) the welds are all good looking, looks like they've got good quality control.
I couldn't make a bumper I'd like for much less in materials, let alone paint and labour! |

I bought the rcd front bumper. The only reason I didn't go with the smittybilt was due to weight. The rcd is light and I did not notice it weigh my front end down at all. I would recommend it!

X2 on the Smuttybilt XRC, bought from Serious as well. Very strong and easy to install. I've actually put this bumper on a tree to brace myself pulling a disabled XJ up a huge hill with some ledges. Was putting a lot of the weight of my XJ and all of the weight of the other XJ on the bumper. Not even a scratch on it when we were done. Highly recommend.
Also, I have some HD coils so I only noticed about 1/4" of sag with the bumper and winch installed. Attachment 211518 Attachment 211519 |
I have heard different. I heard they moved there building spot to china and I have heard many people say that there bumper has bent because they use theres on the regular. If your going to be using your, rock crawling with it and having them make contact with large rocks I think you should go with a differnt brand. I have only heard great things from Hanson bumper.

Yes they are made in China....so what?
Everything else you heard is simply untrue. Slam any bumper into a rock hard enough and it's going to deform, bend, crack, break, etc. It's called rockcrawling, not "Slam Your Junk Into A Rock'. |
