I see lots of ideas for swing outs, but not too many for swing down...
it will need to support up to a 35" tire
any ideas?

subscribed. I have been thinking of one that would be like the warn 2 part bumper it has a rear bumper alone or buy the tire carrier that just bolts on

If you have access to scrap metal and you can weld it can be pretty easy. Conceptualize a design and you can still use the hitch idea as previously stated.

this seems simple... but I am a little worried about mounting to a fiberglass hatch... I mean he says he beat the snot outta his and it is still good to go

yet another guy doing that same thing

but hard to beat this design for being simple... I think I would change a few thing though

I've seen a few people who rig a bike carrier that fits in the hitch to hold a tire. It folds right down and looks super nice. I've always wanted to do one like that

I've seen pictures of ones that go right to the hitch but never a drop down unless the person doing it had welding skills and converted it. The ones that go in to the hitch tend to rattle though. But I'm sure there are ways to fix that as well.
