Default another Ford 8.8 question
While grinding down the old axle mounts I noticed a small threaded hole in the axle housing shaft. Anyone have any idea what that might be? The hole is about the size of a pen. I'll try to get some pictures once my wife stops yelling at me.

it might be the axle vent hole

Weld it closed and drill/tap a new one somewhere on the axle. Just make sure you clean out any metal that gets in the tube.

Yea, I was going to do that as a last option. I'll try to tap the original hole tomorrow.
