Default Alternator swap

Ok, alternator is going out and going to swap it for a higher output. I have a 95 4.0 and was wondering what the best donor vehicle is? Also, what mods will have to be done. I've searched and haven't found a solid thread on exactly what the best one is, and what you have to do.

I've posted a donor list - I'm pretty sure there's a copy here. The Cham/LSTR numbers are industry standard, so you can ask for one of those as the local and get a new/reman, if you want. (I don't trust junkyard electrics.)

Buying a new one, just wanted to make sure that it was going to be the right one before i start the mod. Thanks for the info.

And i think i seen that list, but no years of the vehicles i can pull it from. But i guess with the numbers there is no need.

The donor list is culled from a Cham/LSTR catalogue, and includes original application information.

Do i need to replace the green and green/orange wire coming from the alternator? If so, where do those run to?

I've posted a donor list for 136A and 160A units that should work, along with "universal" Cham/LSTR part numbers (if you'd rather get new - I would.)

Don't forget to upgrade your wiring, if you want to take full advantage of your new alternator!

Got a 160A one brand new from eBay, for $119. No grinding, no issues. Just dropped in (well actually pushed in from below) and bolted. Works fine and definitely provides more juice... My factory one was 117A.
