ALREADY LIFTED....

My 88 xj is already 4.5 high with rough county...can i use spacers and shackles to add another 2" to it?

Yeah, but you might need new shocks and lower the breaks, and control arm brakets. But yeah you can do it

96xj4x4 02-04-2011 09:42 PM

go for it

94jeepchero 02-04-2011 09:56 PM

would he need a slip yoke for this?

to be on the save side i would definitely want an SYE for 6.5'' of lift. people just running a transfer case drop with minimal driveline problems isn't unheard of though.

I'm at 5" with just a t case drop and I though I was maxed without an sye

why do you need 2 more inches? i think 4.5 is plenty of lift for most setups

METS884 02-05-2011 08:54 AM

just wanted to go a lil higher...does anyone know of any body lifts for 88 xj? i cant seem to find one and i couldnt imagine why they wouldnt make one

MallCrawlXJ 02-05-2011 08:57 AM

:rofl::rofl::rofl::rofl::rofl:

if you do find one, let us all know!!

cherokees are unibody and cannot be body lifted as they do not have a frame.

the body is the frame..........:batman:

:brickwall: Homework is in order here, before you modify anything you need to learn a little more about your rig.

MallCrawlXJ 02-05-2011 09:06 AM

Why are you trying to go taller? You just wanting a bigger XJ or you trying to fit bigger tires? If you haven't already, you can do a "virtual lift" (cutting your fenders). Thats a cheap and easy way to fit bigger tires. Plus you keep a LCG (lower center of gravity).

As mentioned before Cherokees are unibody. No one makes a body lift for them. There is no frame the body sits on. If you need anything feel free to pm me and I'll try and help you out.

Good luck. Btw, welcome to CF!

After maybe doing a search and not finding a answer to something new poeple ask questions to things they don't know. They might want someone to send them a link through a PM. :dunno: Just a thought. It seems to work better than mocking people.
