Alloy usa seals
So just a quick question... When I get back in town I'll be installing the zerk fitting seals from alloy USA.. Since this has fluid continuously going through the whole shaft, do I have to put in more fluid than normal, and do I have to take out the seals inside the pumpkin? If you don't know which ones I'm talking about google search them

They will work though to keep fluid in right? Cause I did a non disconnect swap on my disconnect axle and this looked like the best solution

The seals on the D30 should be located on either side of the differential. There shouldn't be diff oil in the tubes. If there is then the seals should be replaced. New seals are only about $10

Well I guess it might but that wasn't their intended function and using them to keep the diff oil in seems like stepping over dollars to pick up dimes IMO.
EDIT: One other thing... if the seals are leaking bad enough oil could collect in the axle tube when you park on a hill or other off camber situation and starve the diff for lubrication. Another thing to think about.

How hard is it to pull out the gears and carrier, I've never done it before so I can change the inner seal because the 2 piece shaft is obviously thicker in diameter than a one piece shaft

And the inner seal would then just be replaced with a inner axle seal out of a non disconnect axle? Is that right.....
Any other opinions or options would be great!!!

You need to pull the axles, pull the carrier, and replace the seals. It's kind of a PITA. While you are in there check your carrier bearings and have some spares on standby so you don't have to make parts runs (this is assuming you have a bearing puller and a hydraulic press to replace the bearings if necessary, otherwise, make sure you know where your local machine shop is). There is a pretty good writeup around here somewhere, with lots of pictures.

So will a standard non disconnect inner axle seal fit on the passenger side of the diff housing on a disconnect axle? Because that is the side leaking for obvious reasons

I don't understand the point of putting 2 seals in when logically you should just be able to put an inner axle seal in from a non disconnect Dana 30
Anyone in the Chicago area that can help?
