they go inside the rim?
I had a set of these on my Landcruiser once and I think they caused the lug nuts to vibrate loose. I just want to be careful.

Kind of yes, but I would personally not run cheap ones because I've seen MANY wheels come off because cheap spacers breaking. Spidertrax makes good ones from what I hear. You need to make sure they go from 5x4.5 to 5x5. Those look like they're just spacers. Make sure they're hubcentric too
I appreciate the advice.

As he said, make sure they're hubcentric. I've advocated against them for years because you can buy wheels with the correct dimensions for almost the same price, and spacers/adapters just add another potential failure point.
Unfortunately, I find myself looking at them now for my own Jeep because nobody makes a street-friendly 37x12.5x15 tire anymore, and nobody makes 17" wheels with the right specs for my Wrangler.
Bottom line is:
Spidertrax is top dog in this fight. Personally, I'll go with G2 instead if I buy spacers because they're black instead of anodized blue. I don't want to broadcast my hypocrisy with bright colors

No, I don't lick fish.
Like I said, it's debatable. Some camps are all about the Dana axles and will swear that the D44 is stronger, others will argue that the 8.8 is stronger. I'll say this much though, the ring gear size is .2" smaller than a ford 9" axle, and the housing isn't as bulbous. PLUS, 31 spline axle shafts.... and you can find them aplenty in junkyards under exploders, many times with LSD and many times with disc brakes.
If it were me, I'd go for the 8.8
I have a 29 spline 8.25 (which some have also said rivals the d44 in strength) rear axle sitting in my garage and I'm almost debating selling it and going with an 8.8, but I don't feel like going through the trouble of setting up the perches and everything.

Alloy USA is another top brand.... and they're red if that fits your fancy (no, not you Tim, "You" in general).

How long have you had the lift on there? Leaf springs will settle over time. It doesn't look like it's much higher than an inch. At least you'll have some extra height for when you're hauling something... or ya know... your gas tank is full.

coil spacers would be the cheap easy way. Rubicon express. Anything but rough country. RC probably be fine for a mall crawler but if you plan on using the Lift avoid them.

So I plan on throwing on some 31x 10.5 x 15 KO2's on my XJ because I can get 5 for about $550 (I work at America's Tire so I get a hefty discount). I want to get the cragar soft 8's but Im trying to figure out the back spacing. I'm at stock height right now and I would love to just trim the **** out of everything and maybe a 2" lift (saw a $70 kit with spacers and the such but I'll need new rear leafs first). But let's say I want to keep the height stock and just trim (have new omix-ada bump stops in the rear and I didn't cut them like most people do), what backspacing would I need to clear the control arms?

OME leaf springs
I am looking for information about Old Man Emu 2 1/2" leaf springs for my 94 XJ. I bought springs in new condition but from a local shop.
1) One leaf has a O painted in yellow on top of the spring near the front (larger) bushing. The other leaf spring has an X on it. Does that indicate which side of the vehicle they should go on?
2) problem is a noise/grabbing after the springs had been installed. At even the slowest (5 mph) forward or reverse movement I hear and feel a chirp and a grab that causes the rear to bounce a little. I have heard of the drive shaft binding but have never experienced that on any of my vehicles. In addition to the 2 1/2" springs I put an extended shackle which is about 1 1/4"
My first thought is to simply put the original shackles back on which would lower the rear lift slightly. I don't know if I need an SYE (which I know zero about). I also thought about shims but do not know where to begin concerning angle etc.
Any thoughts will help, kind of feel frustrated after all the work so far.
Thanks
