Default Lowering lift costs?

My friend sorted of duped me and couldn't lift my jeep for me, although I did get BFG A/T 33s on wheels for free out of it. I am considering getting the rough country 4.5 inch kit and get spacers and shackles to get up to where I need to be to fit the tires without trimming, it would be around $800 shipped. If anyone can think of any way I can lower the costs that would be great, since I am trying to save money for gears, SYE, bumpers and flares.

I cannot get an add-a-leaf, because my stock leafs are shot. I'm trying to figure out if anyone knows of any cheaper lift kits, or ways to lift it to the height I want.

Stop. Don't buy anything. You're about to get a lesson in safe, proper lifting.

Exactly...Don't buy junk just to get your tires to fit unless you've got deep enough pockets to order another kit and go through the removal/replacement game again. Not to mention the possibility of a break down. Save a little more and do it right the first time. Regrets and hindsight can get really expensive.

So what's the best most "budget" friendly way I can safely, and properly lift it to fit 33s?

I'm going to be dumping money into this thing... eventually. So I do want to do things right.

I used to think I made good money and could afford a hobby... then I got a Jeep. How do these guys afford JKs and then throw another $50K at them. Maybe my next lifetime I won't have kids.

No idea man, that's why I bought a van. Would be scared to lift it even if I had the money.

Also, does anyone know how much more room for tires bushwackers flat fenders will give you?

Alright, what am I missing? I'm tired of answering these, so I'm making a one-stop shop.

This pic should be posted as a sticky or mandatory document to be viewed before someone can ask...

Thanks for the spreadsheet, and sorry to be boring, but I've never lifted anything other than K10 trucks and blazers. Is rough country bad quality, or is it just that I'm going to need more components? Would it be better to piece a kit together? I am on a budget, but I still want to get everything solid for the trail.

It isn't personal. I'm just tired of typing out that whole list of parts when people ask. Rough Country is a budget brand. Some people like them. I though they were okay until I rode in a Jeep with a higher quality kit.

What you do NOT want is the RC 4.5" kit. Their 4.5" leaf springs are the wrong length. They've known it for years. When people complain, RC tells them to buy more parts to fix the ride. This is why I won't buy from RC.

Also, read that note at the bottom. If you add a budget boost to a 4.5" lift, you now have a 6.5" lift. At that point, you need everything in that spreadsheet.

Yeah don't really want to buy from them now either. Are there any companies other than rough country for more budget oriented lifts at that height? (Other than rusty's their shipping is obscene.)
