Rear springs are better. I still have yet to buy my own lift kit but from what i've been told, the AAL will loose some lift within the first year. So if you've got the money then go for the full pack.

I wish i had the money to do a full leaf kit but i dont so for now ill be a doin a 3inch AAL and pray that it doesnt sag anytime soon lol......

Take your time and save up to get what you want. Study this forum and search the different threads available. If I had known about this website when I started building mine, I would have spent a little more money on the lift, known more about what to expect from it, kept some of the skin on my knuckles, and not had the neighbors scared to let their children outside due to my excessive profanity. Research is your friend, and unless you just want to throw on a lift and beat your Jeep to pieces, have patience and do it right the first time. You will get a lot more enjoyment out of it that way.

Remember... If you don't have time to do it right the first time, when will you find time to fix it.

Rough Country is great stuff. I love my 3" kit w/full leaf packs. Definately get the full leaf packs, and their nitro shock upgrade isn't a bad idea either. I like the ride with the niro shocks on my XJ much better than their standard hydro shocks for sure. Don't forget that you might end up needing a transfer case drop/rear axle shim at the very least if you get driveline vibrations. A SYE is always better, but on a budget a t-case drop and a rear axle shim will get you by.

yes, rocky road is some good stuff, if i where you i would go with blocks or add-a-leafs in back rather than shackles simply because shackles require alot of work to put in, you usually have to cut bolts and get new bushing and that gets spendy at 30$ per bushing x4 plus the cost of bolts and ya its a pain in the a$$
and with only 2" you dont need brakelines or drveshafts, or steering or anything like that corrected, you will be just fine

Go with full leafs.

Before I had an XJ, I used to ride along with a buddy a lot when he would go wheelin'. He and another friend had identical Jeeps...same lifts, tires, even the same year. Both had aal's initially, and predictably, both YJ's had the exact same capabilities off-road. Eventually, my buddy saved and bought new leafs when his aal's started to sag. After that, it was crazy how much better his Jeep performed that the guy with the aal's. Not only did he get much better travel, it rode a lot smoother, too.

Need Some Tire Advice


im looking for 31/10.50/15 Mud tires some thing like the BFG KM1 style(wich is no longer made) any sugestions on what brand is good on the highway and in muddy trails i was looking at the hankook and the KM2 but there kinda pricey so im also loking for cheeper, also i am NOT looking at retreads so i already know about treadwright, are trux mt's good on the road?

I was searching around and i saw that a 3.5" lift from Rubicon Express is the same thing as a Rough Country 4.5" lift kit. Now i dont know which one to go for. Any suggestions?

if i was to install a 1.75 inch econo lift on my jeep could i fit 31x10.5-15 on it without any trimming?
