Slip yoke eliminators are not hard to install. You just have to be confident.

so you're talking regrooving the tires? Not "comp-cutting"?.... your best bet is just to get another set. Its really not worth it and not many places do it anymore. Plus, what you spend doing that, you'd have a good portion of a new set already paid for.

I’ll keep searching, I just have two tires in particular that are real ****ty. I’ll deffinetly need a new pair by winter! I’ve seen On face book ppl doin it for 15 a tire which didn’t seem that bad. However the two people Ive seen post it either took down their post or live hours away

Default Death Wobble

Hey y’all, so I just installed a 4.5 inch RC lift and I started to get death wobble at about 45 miles an hour. Like the crap your pants kind of bad death wobble. So I started looking under the Jeep and found that I got two ball joints that are shot and my track bar is still not level even though when I installed the lift I had to drill another hole to relocate the track bar to make it parallel. So I’m buying new parts for those here pretty soon, but my question is should I wait to install those after I buy new tires and get an alignment in the next two weeks or so or just install them right away? Also will an alignment get rid of the camber in my tires? Thanks for the help!!

Definitely not safe for street use. Very few shops might do it, and I highly HIGHLY doubt a shop would do it if they were aware it was going on the street.

To add to this, most shops won't do a hack n tap SYE due to the requirement of cutting the output shaft.

No welding required. The way the HnT style SYE works is, you remove the output shaft, cut it to a length specified by the SYE manufacturer, drill the shaft for the yoke bolt, tap the threads, then reinstall the output shaft, new output shaft housing, and yoke.

X2 on this - and just an addition, I wouldn't re-groove any tire unless it's a thick tire such as a Swamper or Bogger. I don't think there's enough rubber plies on regular radial tires to accomodate that.

I could be wrong though and Martlor, please feel free to correct me.

You are right. Unless the tire explicitly states it is regroovable, tou are playing with fire bu regrooving a radial tire that doesnt say it can be. Thats why nost shops wont do it. Its not worth it to them for the liability, plus, 95% of tires that really regroovable are big semi truck tires. And even then, thats really only to correct some imperfections on a tire. Not to totally give new tread.

Hello everyone,

I have a 99 XJ with a BDS 8.5 inch long arm lift.
Currently im looking into getting new tires seeing as the old ones are pretty much done.
Currently im running 35x12.5x15 BFG Mud terrains, I liked them for the most part (Besides how loud they are)
I was wondering if there is anyone out there that might have a suggestion on tires I should look into or consider.

Side note:
I am geared with 4.56 yukon gears and have TrueTrac lockers front and rear.
The motor is a 4.9L I6 from 505 performance
The jeep is a weekend toy, something I drive to work on nice days and go play with but I have never done anything to extreme. So sadly I will be the first to admit it is kind of a pavement princess but any time my local jeep group does any run's and or trips it goes.

I just have to ask did you misspell your location on purpose?
