235s are great with that amount of lift. No larger than 30" if you want to avoid trimming. Both sizes look great on 2" lifts though. Can't really go wrong with either.

I agree with these guys also... I personally would stick with 235's, The 8" wheel will give them a better flatter contact patch on the road to wear more evenly and they are still just as good as all the rest off road because these Jeeps are so light. Less tire width, less stuff you will hit with the sidewalls when off road.

Just keep an eye on your sidewalls next to the bead, some brands are now cracking in this area over time when put on a slightly wider wheel. Not because of the application, but because of the cheap materials. They are not putting enough natural rubber in these new tires like they should be.

A couple of questions here

I am in the process of ordering a lift. I will spare the unnecessary details.

So far I plan to get 4" OME medium duty leaf springs part # CS033RA

I need new bushings for the leaf springs. I have heard that the stock size will work. Does anybody have a recommendation for new leaf spring bushings? Links would be great!

I also want heavy duty shackles with 0" of lift. Are there any options here? Or am I missing something?

Get a tube of marine grade grease at Walmart. Not enough with the kit.

whats are the stock measurements- hub center to bottom of fender?

Pretty sure it's rear 17" and front 17.5". By the way that's to the bottom of the fender flare.

I really like the IRO shackles.
This lift is getting expensive fast. I really didn't want to buy a relocation bracket just to keep the factory height.

I will be using the poly bushings as well. I ordered a tube of super lube ptfe (teflon) synthetic grease from amazon that is supposed to work great on them.

I meant the factory height of the shackle.
I'm not going to be rock crawling it any time soon, so for now I would like to lift the rear using only the leaf pack.

edit: now I'm considering a relocation bracket for the ride quality. Hold on while I go pull my hair out.....

I figured you might find out about shackle angle issues and ride quality. The member I bought my IRO shackles from found out that shackles of that design which a majority are would hit the relocation bracket when flexing. I am almost positive he went with these.

shop called today, said the crown OEM shackle I bought weren't working with the OME CS033RB springs... I told him theres plenty of people running that spring with stock shackles- not sure what the mix up was. pretty disheartening when a reputable offroad and fab shop calls and tells me that.


this was after telling me my drivers side spring perch was rusted beyond repair and they snapped a rear shock bolt removing the RC lift that was on there. gets that's what I get for buying a low mileage 16 year old whip... vent over

Ooooorrrrrr, for buying a vehicle with rust, not doing research on common issues before buying the vehicle and mods (I'm sure you did because you got quality stuff, but a lot dont), and/or not doing the work yourself haha (was me even I got my first jeep, everything went wrong haha). Rust and broken bolts are very common in these...i try and do most things myself after reading up a bit. If i can't do it, there is probabably someone i know that I can ask to help me, and probably for free

could I install the lift? yes I could- do I have time? unfortunately no. so im paying for it- more ways than one. i did my homework, in depth- not really. saw a low mileage, relatively clean XJ and bit.... it happens lol

No matter the due diligence that is done beforehand, any used vehicle purchase is always at least some level of a gamble, as there are always unknowns that will inevitably pop up after the fact.
I too bought a low mileage nearly completely rust free XJ recently... and while it ran fine, it needed a few things to bring it up to condition level I keep my vehicles in. So yeah.. s*** always happens. lol.
We just hope it's a few drops and not an entire s*** storm. lol
