First thing you will need to go long arms and drop the short arms before you even think about going bigger. Second why would you want to go bigger??? After that you will have to find some 8"+ coil springs and add spacers to make up the difference, as for the rear add some leafs to the packs or new leaf packs. I am still wondering why would you want to run a 10" lift on your XJ?

This is just the look I want to go for with my new 98 Classic.
Anyone know the lift and what size tires on this Cherokee?

Thanks

Default Noises After Lift

I'm pretty sure these noises are a result of the 3" lift I put on my xj. It is a grinding/rubbing sound. It's not a continual noise. It's very irregular and sounds like it's coming from under my seat. Any ideas? Thanks

okay. i'm going to be perfectly honest in saying that i know NOTHING about lifts. But, I'm lookin to lift my 00 XJ. So if you lift guru's could help me out that would be great. I'm wantin to know how much lift i can put in without having to mod. any mechanical stuff (drive shaft, etc..)?? Also, what is the most cost friendly lift? I'm only 17 and goin into university next year so I'm not lookin to break the bank just yet.

Any input would be appreciated.

Research 2in budget boost. That would be your best bet!

Jesse You can probably get away with a 2" budget boost without any mechanical alterations. If you had an older Jeep you could go a little higher but the later models are not so forgiving.

Check all U-Joints in your drive line (IE, both front and rear drive shafts).

Yep I like it that way. Now maybe more folks will learn to read and ask their lift and tire questions in here.. Nice and clean and keeps them in one place and easier to answer.

okay lift gurus. i got an 84 xj 2.5L i want a lift that's homebrewed and i don't want to have to adjust my brake lines. i've heard s-10 leaf springs and a f150 coil. what years on the pickups? and could i swap parts with the s-10 and still have it be driveable. got a 93 s-10 but it needs to work when i'm done.

define still needs to work........when you do the S-10 packs for the rear you have to cut the "eye's" of the main S-10 leaf so you would have no springs on your S-10 so it wouldnt work, if you go for the bastard lift you could also use dakota leafs witch i read is the same spring rate as the stock XJ's, and insted of F150 coils you can use the coils from a ZJ (i think) and they will give you a less harsh ride, with any of the bastard lifts you can get from 2''-4" of lift so you would still need to relocate brake lines and need new shocks

here is a couple bastard lift write up's

heres what you get when you search bastard lift there is just to much for me to sort through

Sure thing. Problem is...I'm dumb about this stuff and don't know what to look for. Would it be loose or anything like that?

Default New Cherokee Owner Wheel and tire question!

Hi .. I just picked up this nice 98 cherokee and I would like to put some nice wheels and tires on it. It appears to have a 3'' lift kit on it. what size would be a good fit? I drive alot on the highway so I want something comfortable but yet rugged for the long michigan winters. thanks!! ;-) Keith
