Default Alignment problem

I took my 96 4x4 cherokee with a 4.5 RC LIFT to get an alignment today and they said the camber is off and I would have to get offset ball joints to fix it I have no experience in this area but my googling told me not to use them they also told me none of my front rnd components were bad but i have a pretty good poping sound whenever i start out from a stop it makes me question their reliability anyone with real world experience that could send me in the right direction would be much appreciated

What was the exact number for camber? Sometimes a short will tell you to fix it when it's outside factory spec but still well with the same range.

Your camber should not be that off, and it has nothing to do with the lift. The angle of the ball joints stays the same after a lift since the knuckle remains in the same spot relative to the axle. Google won't tell you if your front end components are worn. The only way to test that is by getting the wheels off the ground and checking the play. The popping sound from a stop is probably the u-joints in your front axle shafts. Not too bad of a job as long as you're careful to not damage the axle tube seals when you put the shafts back in.

Just a side note here, but it's really difficult to read a post that has no punctuation.

A slightly bent axle can cause camber issues. I've heard and seen many people running offset balljoints and have had no issues. Im sure I need them to but I've never had mine on an alignment rack so I don't know how bad they are.

Thank yall for the info. Google just told me not to use of set balljoints I checked for play and there isn't any in the hub, but I didn't even think of u joints. I don't remember the number he said for camber but I think it was .6

Seriously? .6 degree of negative camber is still in spec. My driver side is .8 degree which is the edge of spec and I have no plans of doing squat.

Uh, why not put it on a rack and find out for sure before saying you need them?

He said in his next post that he got the wheels off the ground and there's no play.

OP, I can't guarantee that it's your u-joints, but your symptoms are almost dead on. The only difference when mine went was that it only made the pop if my wheels were turned a little, and I felt several pops each time. But it's generally safe to assume that a popping noise from the front end when accelerating from a stop is the u-joints.

1 these axles will be trashed soon
2 you can visually see the camber
3 I'm done spending money on tiny axles.
4 wont be on DD duty much longer.

Uhm... nope, he was replying to Purple Toxin... the OP "Eat_931" was the one that said he got the wheels off the ground and there's no play
