When I drilled through my rear carpet to add heavier tie downs, I burned a hole in the carpet first with a soldering iron.

Enjoy the pics!

Started out dirty and white, not too different from myself.

I melted some small holes in it and used plastic push fasteners to keep the rows from sliding by each other.

I grabbed two random pieces of hardware from the electrical isle at the hardware store that looked like a solid way to mount it. I used the existing rear seatbelt bolt and two screws to hold it down. You can grab it with both hands and rock the Jeep side to side.

Turned out pretty awesome if you ask me.
Awesome idea

Default MOLLE Visor

Been thinking of new way to have MOLLE gear in my Jeep. So I came up with a MOLLE visor, then I found out that I wasn't the first to think of this. http://zulunylongear.com/visor.html

Well my idea is similar but different. Mine is 10"x6" compared to 12"x6". Mine is made of fabric from Joann compared to Milspec nylon. Mine has a different pocket design on the back side. I came up with my design and my wife brought it to life on the sewing machine.

Nice idea! But, how do you plan to increase resistance to the visor falling down when you put weight on it? I'd like to hear it - because I may want to do something similar myself (once I patch the roof, put in a new reinforced headboard with PALS webbing, and maybe sort out something else...

(Come to think on it, I'd also like to delete the rear quarter glass - 2-door - and plate it in with steel instead, so I can use the area for storage...)

Thanks. I've also thought of those ideas for storage. Maybe this spring/summer I'll work on that.
Anyway to answer your question. My plan is nothing. Lol. I believe it will handle the extra weight just fine. Jeep visors seem to be sturdy. I'll test it out tomorrow with seatbelt cutter, knife, flashlight, pens.

I don't see a problem with the visor panel proper - just making sure that it doesn't flop down in the way (at 6'3", it doesn't have to flop down far to get in my way. I'll probably try to lower the seat an inch or two as part of my refit - I'm tired of banging my head on the ceiling of damned near everything I drive...)

I see what you're saying about the visor. If it doesn't hold the weight today, I do have a plan that'll require some work. Basically attach a piece or two of Velcro to the headliner and visor. That should keep movement to a minimum. We'll see if its needed. I'm gonna test it out today.

I like the multicam fabric. Do you have a link for that fabric? I definitely want MOLLE seat covers but don't wanna pay for Smittybilt ones.

Here is my visors installed and loaded up with pen, glow-stick, knife, surefire, and seat-belt cutter on the webbing side. Name-tape, notepad, and ID card on the other side.

It's a good knife but those seat covers cost too much. I'd rather make my own at home.
